Sailor Moon Phone SexAs if the anti-anime people needed any more ammunition, I recently found an article listed on Yahoo News that could cause some of them to overreact. Seems Mead, in conjunction with DiC, produced a quantity of Sailor Moon school supplies that have since been discontinued. Seems some of the products had a Sailor Moon Fan Club phone number printed on them. Seems this phone number was discontinued. Seems this phone number was then given out to a phone sex company. Now, no one's to blame in any of that, except possibly the phone company. But they should be allowed to reassign numbers wherever they like, shouldn't they? They probably did give it a few years before doing it (speculation on my part). What I find most outrageous about the article are the quotes from the mother of the child who discovered this. Dangers of the Internet? She's worried about the Internet, but lets her kid call any old phone number she wants. Was the kid traumatized by the phone call? I don't see why she should be. She's 13. It's a phone. HANG IT UP. If the girl is traumatized, it's no doubt due to her mother's overreaction. Sure, call the company if you want. Turns out Mead didn't know, now maybe they'll see if they can do something about it. But did you have to tell the media too? Jeesh. Hmm.. phone sex line. Maybe that's how the outer senshi got so rich.
